The concept from the Lisbon's bedroom was that they mostly spend their days on their bedroom due to their protective parents who caged them in their own house. So the theme would probably be a daydream vibe room, since they mostly daydreamed about what life looked like outside their house other than being locked up all day by their parents. Room in the movie is a mess, which led to unorganized jewelry, candies, make-up, stickers, junks, underwears, and books. If you're a perfectionist, don't worry. Just put everything out of your drawers but organize them properly, so your eyes won't flinch much. Soft and warm lighting will perfectly fit the theme. A rug for your Lisbon theme room will be a perfect match, since the Lisbon's girls used to lay down on their rug whether they're sleeping, daydreaming, or even reading the catalog.
Frenchy's room is all about pink and portrait photos of hunks and Rydell, it's all about the slumber party vibe like thick floral blankets, hair treatments, manicures, diaries, bed lamps, books, and a vinyl player to lighten up the mood. Try to play some Elvis songs for a change, bet you have no idea that this scene in Frenchy's bedroom while rizzo is singing the line about Elvis was actually filmed the same day that Elvis Presley died. Creepy but cool. Don't forget the "Pink Ladies" jacket, you can make your very own Pink Ladies coat or jacket, if you have no idea where you can make your own jacket with words attached to the back, do ask your mom about it or simply try digital screen print shop. If you got yourself a Pink Ladies coat, you can hang it by the door or even frame it to the wall.
Mia has a fabulous grandma who’s surprisingly is a queen to a country called Genovia. Queen’s bedroom are always fabulous, but who says Mia’s previous normal bedroom wasn't the bomb? Mia’s bedroom concept was more into a playful dreamy and adventurous room, looking from the spot that she made on top and the stairs in her room. If it's somehow not possible for you to have an attic stairs on your room to access the private spot like Mia did, try your window rooftop or your balcony. I always wanted a private spot where you can just sit there and think. Mia puts a playful lights and stickers around the staircase to make it look funky, you can copy it by adding a Christmas strings light (Yellow normal one or even the colorful will do) and twist it on your bed head. Oh, and a cat like Fat Louie would be a wonderful additional for a teen room. If you have a cat, try building a house and decorate it with your drawings or stickers.
It's pretty in pink, alright. I've always wanted Andie's bedroom ever since I watched Pretty in Pink. Andie's room is a perfect example of what we now consider "shabby chic". Starting from laces, curtains, and pillowcases, colored telephone, a side chair by the window, a make-up table with your favorite junkies hanging on the side, two Mondrian posters adorned her wall, and a journal for her writings and sketches. Andie likes to dress up as a quirky pink themed girl, so a mannequin in the room would be perfect for her daily Q-test outfit. It's all about the coziness of the room, try to put some framed vintage posters and portraits on your wall. You should definitely put every little pieces of your jewelry and D.I.Ys outside your drawer and leave it hanging by the bed, by the make-up table, or even by the door to show people how creative you are. Andie has a side chair by her window, if you surprisingly have one, put your favorite books by the side of your comfort spot. Make your very own mood board on the wall and decorate it with pictures and stickers. It can be a little crowded, but at least you have a cute and cozy room like Andie.
Perks is an example of a tender look at the life of a teen misfits living in Pittsburgh in the 90’s. Now, if you’re a hardcore fan of music and bands do try to copy Sam’s bedroom. I love the fact that they use mix tapes in the movies, who doesn't love getting mix tapes from their very first boyfriends and girlfriends. If you have lots of mix tapes, try to organize them by the desk shelf next to your favorite novels. A real vintage stuff wouldn't be that necessary if you already got yourself a type writer, a vinyl record, and a stereo, a perfect vintage match for any desks. If you don’t have one, try asking your grandpa about it, grandpa always keeps the best stuff hidden on their house, or simply try eBay.
