Then I noticed she started taking lots of photographs and loads of her photography appears on my dashboard often. You can even find her a few of photographs on my blog! So here's my interview with the talented and breathtakingly beautiful 17-year-old from Melbourne, Australia, the aspiring fashion photographer.
1. First of all, I love your photographs! What's your inspiration?
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! My inspiration comes from all over, I am inspired by art, our environment and society, fashion, and of course other photographers. I try to look at the things I do and life as a whole as one big pool of inspiration.
2. Who's your favorite photographer, and why?
This is such a hard question because I come across and find so many different photographers all the time and I instantly fall in love with their photography, so I have a very long list of favourites! Although, if I had to choose just one, the photographer who popped into my head first is Will Davidson. There’s just something about his photographs which I really love, but I think my favourite thing about his photography is his excellent use of manipulating natural light, it’s just so beautiful and really catches my eye!
3. What's your inspiration for this shoot?
For this particular shoot, I didn’t have any specific influences or inspiration, it was more of a spontaneous ‘capturing the moment’ shoot. Amy and I walked around my local area with a bag full of my favourite outfits, and whenever I came across a location or a type of lighting which I liked best I decided to photograph then and there.
4. What's your future plan?
I will be finishing my schooling life at the end of this year, so next year I plan to go to university to do a business and visual arts course and hopefully I can render some of my photography within this course whilst doing some extra photography on the side. My ideal future (more like my dream future) would be to photograph for various fashion magazines! I don’t have a fixed future plan because everything will always be changing, so I guess at the moment I will just to go with the flow and see where my future takes me.
5. Do you have any essentials that you always take with you when you're shooting?
Water! I have to keep a bottle of water with me in my bag because it is usually quite a long day and I get pretty thirsty haha
6. If you could choose anybody in this world, dead or alive, to photograph, who would you choose and why?
Wow this is such a difficult question, I don’t even think I can answer it because there are so many people I have in mind!
7. What's in your current everyday handbag?
My sunnies, Lucas papaw ointment, my phone, my money, my camera disposable camera and sometimes my digital camera, but that’s about it, nothing really special!
8. You're absolutely gorgeous! What's your daily face routine, and maybe some tips?
Aaaw thank you, this is so sweet! I don’t do anything out of ordinary for my face, I just wash it with QV soap free wash every morning when I wake up and at night just before I go to bed. I also put moisturiser on my face here and there but no so often because it makes my skin too oily. I don’t actually wear any makeup normally during the day (unless it’s for something special but normally I would just wear makeup when I go out a night) because I just don’t feel the need to, and I think it’s best for my skin. My best tip is to always wash your makeup off, it’s a pretty simple and obvious tip but it is definitely a must! Another tip which I use when I wear makeup is to mix a little bit of foundation or concealer/cover up in your moisturiser, that way your skin will feel fresh and have a very nice dewy look to it without being too covered in makeup.
9. How do you stay fit?
Usually I try to run every day (or second day when I am very busy) for 20-30 minutes, and I also try do ab exercises every day or so!
10. What's in your iPod?
I haven’t updated my songs in a long time, but usually I just listen to whatever is new and popular at the time because usually those songs are so catchy that they always get stuck in my head and I sing along to have fun
11. Who is your style icon?
I always love Abbey Lee Kershaw’s style it is pretty much crazy but fabulous and I love how a lot of her outfits are slightly bohemian influenced!
12. What puts you in a good mood?
Smiling! Even when I am upset a smile will always brighten up day… but so will new clothes hehe
13. Favorite designers?
It’s too hard to think of my all-time favourite because I usually decide based on the specific collection, so sometimes I may not like a designer as much because I wasn’t such a fan of their clothes for one collection and vice-versa! However, my favourite Australian designer is currently Dion Lee, his designs are really incredible!
14. Top five countries you'd like to visit one day?
Morocco, definitely and then France, London, Italy, Spain (even though I have been to these four countries quite recently I would very much like to go back and visit, and explore more of what I had not seen or experienced). However if I had to choose countries where I have never been to, the four more would include Sweden, America, Maldives and perhaps Sweden
15. What can't you live without?
My phone eeep!
16. Besides photography, do you have any other passion?
Yes, it’s a pretty cliché answer but I love fashion and art (specifically painting and drawing) and always have even before I picked up photography
17. If you were to eat only one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?
Probably just chicken because I always eat chicken so I really like it and there are so many different ways to cook it which means I can have a different meal all the time even though it is technically the same food haha
